The route is very varied, there are passages at the edge of the forest with a wonderful view into the valley, as well as shady sections of forest that are crossed, always interrupted by small highlights such as romantic brook passages, paths between boulders and Rossel dumps and surrounded by the sounds of the forest and nothing else - nothing.
The path also has all sorts of interesting historical facts to offer. You will pass the Celtic high fortification "Vorkastell", the "Saustäbel", which used to be a forest pasture, and finally the Abentheurer Hütte. Iron was smelted there until the 19th century, and the Saarland iron and steel industry began here at the Abentheurer Hütte. These and other exciting stories are told along the way.
From the pre-castle and the Wehlenstein you have a wonderful view of the country. It is worth taking a rest here for a while.
If you are interested in the legends that entwine around places along the path and nearby, you will find more information here.
From 01.09.2019, the Trauntal-Höhenweg will be part of the DVV Trauntal loop.
