We stay on the Renchtalsteig – we follow a narrow footpath uphill keeping right. For another kilometer, we stay on the Renchtalsteig. We turn right, leaving the road and walking steep uphill, on a newly created wide road that leads us right to the tower.
Leaving the tower behind, we make our way back. We walk uphill again for a little while, then keep left and stay on this path until we reach the barrier. At the intersection behind it, we take the left hiking trail and follow it for about 200 m, and turn left again. After about one kilometer we reach the spot where we walked uphill to the tower. We walk back the way we came to our starting point.

From Offenburg (ICE or IC-stop) or Appenweier you can travel to Bad Peterstal-Griesbach via Ortenau-S-BahnOrtenau-S-Bahn (OSB): leave at Bad Griesbach train station
Südwestbus (7137): Bus stop at Bad Griesbach town hall (near the Bad Griesbach church)
When arriving by train you have to take a nearly 60 minute long walk to get to the “Renchtalhütte” the starting point of the trail.
Getting there
Bad Peterstal-Griesbach is within easy reach through the connection to the B28, the Rhein plain motorway (A5), as well as the Bodensee motorway (A81).- From the upper Rhein plain (A5) take the motorway exit Appenweier and the road B 28 to Bad Griesbach. At the hotel “Döttelbacher Mühle” take a left turn and short after that take a right turn into “Breitenbergstraße”.We follow the road straight ahead until we reach the parking lot 100 m after we pass the “Renchtalhütte”
- From the motorway A81 take the exit at Horb and drive along the B28 in direction of Freudenstadt and Bad Peterstal-Griesbach. At Bad Griesbach take a right turn into the street in between hotel “Adlerbad” and hotel “Kimmig” .We drive another 3 kilometers through the valley of the “Wild Rench”. 500 m after we pass the sawmill we keep left until we reach our destination.
