moderate
Distance 43.4 km
The tour takes you via Birkenfeld Castle, through the Nahe Valley, past historical places such as the Heiligenbösch Church. Past the Götterallee, the mythical magic forest and the Sauerbrunnen in Oberhambach, it goes back to the city of Birkenfeld.
Author’s recommendation
Immediately after the first ascent up to Birkenfeld Castle, it is good to take a breather - with a wonderful view you can enjoy it from the castle grounds with a view of the city.
In Kronweiler you have the opportunity to rest directly on the Nahe river.
In the middle of Götterallee is the Heiligenbösch Church. From here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the country
It is also worth taking a break between Ellenberg and Buhlenberg, the Struth leisure area also offers plenty of space for cycling groups.

Turn-by-turn directions
From the start in Birkenfeld, the path initially leads steeply uphill to Birkenfeld Castle. From here there is a first beautiful view of the city and, on the horizon, the wooded hills of the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park, where the tour will take us. A leisurely high path continues into the Nahe valley to Kronweiler. Here it is worth taking a break on the banks of the Nahe, imposing rock faces rise to the right and left. It continues between fields and forest via Oberbrombach to Leisel. The Roman grave "Kipp", the Götterallee and the Kiche Heiligenbösch are right on the route and are definitely worth a visit. From the spring village Schwollen it goes up to Hattgenstein - the observation tower opens up a wonderfully wide view of the country. A detour to Sauerbrunnen and Petersquelle in Oberhambach is worth the trip, before the journey via Gollenberg and Ellenberg goes back down to Birkenfeld.
