Our route takes us 62 kilometres from Bremen to Bremerhaven. We cycle along the Weser on flat cycle paths until it flows into the sea. In the Nordenham Museum, as well as in several museums in Bremerhaven, we can learn a lot about the history of the region and Frisian culture.

We start our cycle tour at Farge station on Heinrich-Steffens Stra&szlig, Kapellenstra&szlig and turn right into Farger Stra&szlig to the Weser. Along the dyke we soon come to the submarine bunker „Valentin“ (1). Since the start of construction in 1953, the building, which was intended to be a submarine factory, was never finished. We cycle between fields towards Rade and then turn left onto the Inselstrasse. Now we cycle on the river island Harrisand next to and on the dike, past fishing ponds. At the end of the island we take a ferry to the other bank of the Weser. In the nearby town of Brake we can visit the ship museum. We continue on the Nordstra&szlig and pass the Golzwarder Siel, Rodenkirchen, Kleinesiel and Nordenham. In the Nordenham Museum (2) we can learn everything about the culture of the Frisians. Finally, we leave Martin-Pauls-Strasse and turn right onto Werfstrasse in the direction of the Weser. Follow the signs to the ferry. This takes us to Bremerhaven, from where we quickly reach our destination, the railway station. Bremerhaven was founded as an outer harbour of Bremen when the Weser silted up in front of Bremen. The history of the town is told in the Morgenstern Museum and German Maritime Museum (3), which has old ships on display outside. Today Bremerhaven is a popular shopping town. Also worth seeing is St Hippolyth's Church, which is decorated with Gothic frescoes in the vault and is the oldest in the region. The zoo is home exclusively to animals of the northern latitudes, such as the fish in the North Sea aquarium.
