Mit fast 327 m Höhe und über 1 km Länge ist der Rotenfels die höchste zusammenhängende Felssteilwand Deutschlands nördlich der Alpen. Das Felsmassiv besteht aus rötlichem Rhyolith, einem Porphyr-Gestein. Der Rotenfels ist ein Naturschutzgebiet und eigent sich für Wanderer und Kletterer. Unterhalb des Felsen fließt der Fluss Nahe.
