Treis has two castles, which demonstrates the site's importance at the time of construction. The first castle, today known as Burg Treis, had a more strategic location, right on the steep slopes leading down to the Dünnbach and Flaumbach, and overlooking the village of Treis. The second castle, the Wildburg, may have been built directly after the Burg Treis was captured, most probably to ensure rear cover for the Burg Treis. The latter's task was to watch over the streets in the valleys, and secure the route of advance to the top.Today, only the donjon remains of Burg Treis.

The Reichsburg Cochem is more than just a castle! A wonderful afternoon on the Moselle also includes a guided tour of the castle through the old walls of the Reichsburg, one of the highest hill castles on the Moselle, which is enthroned above the Moselle valley.

Sehenswerte Burg mit schöner Aussicht! Schade war nur, dass man die Innenräume nur mit Führung besichtigen kann.
